The Breakfast Song
After I fell out of my chair laughing, I decided I had to repost this. There are no words to describe it... Enjoy

Covington County on Google Street View
Wow, just realized Google has added a whole bunch of southern mississippi to street view. They don't have my road (somehow they missed a small chunk right where I live), but here's the County courthouse:

And apparently our new church building did not exist (not even a slab) when these pictures were taken

Broken Windows
I strive very hard to have accurate and correctly spelled lyrics in the presenter program for the worship sets at The Dwelling Place Church. When I accidentally display misspelled or incorrect lyrics or the worship leader sings different lyrics than what is written (and coincidentally what is displayed on-screen) it really upsets me. Most of the time when I mention it whoever is around will say "it's not a big deal" or something to that effect.
I am glad to see that other folks out there see it my way. I believe that when any element is out of place in a worship service it can cause a distraction. Whether it should or not, that distraction (or many combined) can have a disastrous effect on someone's perspective of the worship, or completely distract their mind from the reason they are there: to worship God.
Mark Batterson blogs about "Broken Windows". Here's an excerpt from his entry:

Can I share two of my pastoral pet peeves? Unevenly folded bulletins and misspelled words on worship slides! I know those things aren't apocalyptic! But everything says something about everything. Or to put it another way, little things are big things. We need to strive for excellence in everything we do. One of the things that brings me the greatest joy is when we do something really small really well. I think it honors God.I think this says it all. Little things are big things, and we need to do even the small things well. If we have the ability to do the small things well, and do not, are we honoring God by giving only part of our abilities?

Our world is being ruled by cell phones
I really found this opinion article interesting. Written to the Hattiesburg American by Eddie Holloway, USM's Dean of Students, it addresses his concern about addiction to electronic communication via mobile devices.
In the article Mr. Holloway makes the statement "There is a distinct possibility that some people might get depressed and feel gloomy when they are not called or texted. What then becomes the cure?" regarding addiction to the electronic communication.

Ed Young's new series Politicked really hits home about the current state of the leadership in our country. This series really hits on some serious points about selecting a candidate from a Christian perspective, and how christians need to take a stand for our beliefs and how the church needs to stop being "non-prophet" and become "for-prophet". Watch below for the first message from the series, "Avalanche"Politicked - Avalanche (TV) from Fellowship Church on Vimeo.
